CONCEPT 32 - Serial Interface Card, BA-6500-312
The Serial Interface card is used in conjunction with a Distribution Board to provide the interface between the keypanel Line Select Keys and the Telephone Interface Card (TIF). The Serial Interface card can provide the interface for up to 64 lines.
A maximum of four Serial Interface cards can be connected to a Distribution Board to provide up to 256 lines.
The Serial Interface Card converts the selected line into the actual information for the TIF card to select and use this line in order to make or receive a call.
In addition the card also drives the Call Alert Sounder (Sounder One) and the Automatic Half Barrier Sounder (Sounder Two).
Jumpers on the card allow the following changes:
• RS 422 or RS 232 signalling between the keyboard and the concentrator
• Variations of lamp flash rates
• Flicker on second phone call lamp
• Master or Slave operation
General Information
The Serial Interface Card is powered from the Concentrator -50Volt DC supply. An on board voltage converter supplies the required +5 Volts DC.
When a single Serial Interface Card is present, Jumper 1 MUST be used to signal that this Serial Interface Card is the master. When more than one Serial Interface card is in use then only the first Serial Interface card must have Jumper 1 present.
The first Serial Interface card is the master and any other Serial Interface card is a slave. Note: The Serial Interface Card is housed in the Signallers telephone keyboard or telephone keypanel.
