The AWS LED Indicator forms part of the STS Signals AWS System used within our Train Protection and Warning System and complies with the requirements of Network Rail Group Standard GE/RT8035.

The display consists of eight segments in the traditional “sunflower” arrangement. They are connected as 4 pairs so that should a diode fail only 25% of the display is lost. A 12.5V proving circuit is available. This is present as long as the supply is connected to the Indicator and either the Black/Yellow or Black displays are drawing current.

A reset output of 40V d.c. is provided conditional on a 12.5V supply being connected to the display and that a reset instruction being received from the driver’s desk.

Termination to the display is via a 19 pin multi-pole bayonet connector

The indicator has been in use on Class 373 and class 92 vehicle since 1993.
